This summer, bring the kids to the Imagination Center in Burnside Park on Wednesdays from 11am – 2pm for mellow and fun Nature Days programming. Each week we’ll be exploring nature and talking about migration.
Explore our tree of caterpillars and watch them grow each week until they make cocoons and emerge as monarch butterflies. Each week we’ll have a different hands on activity about migration that kids can bring home. While you’re visiting the IC, put a sticker on our world map and tell us where you’re from, where you’re parents are from, or even your great-grandparents. Butterflies migrate, and so do humans. Are you just visiting Providence, or is this where you call home? Let’s track our visitors migration paths!
Visit our open air reading room where kids can read books from our library, or they can pick something from our Leave a book, Take a book bin. Have some books at home that you’ve read many times, put them in the bin and let another reader discover it, and take home a new book that looks interesting.
And don’t forget to visit Downtown Providence’s newest playground, Brandon’s Beach at Burnside Park. Open from dawn to dusk, this on-of-a-kind playground is designed for children 2 – 12 years old of all abilities.
