Once again the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy welcomed Wheeler School students and teachers to Burnside Park for their annual Community Giving Day, a day when students get out of the classroom for community service activities in honor of their school’s founder.
Staff at the DPPC worked with students to plant flowers around the new and improved deck of the Imagination Center, plant shrubs around the statue of General Burnside, and stain the benches in the park.
When all the projects were complete, students were treated to a presentation from local urban wildlife photographer Peter Green of Providence Raptors, and learned about the wildlife in Downtown Providence.

If you’re inspired by the hard work these kids did with us in the park, get in touch about working together on a volunteer event with your organization. You can also help without getting your hands dirty by making a tax-deductible contribution to the DPPC.
