The DPPC is excited to announce that once again this year, we have been awarded an Arts Access Grant (AAG) from Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Congratulations to Program Director Jen Smith and her team in the park, for making free arts and cultural programming accessible to the community.
Here is what RISCA had to say about the work that the DPPC produces:
It was clear to the panel that this organization presents high quality artists and a variety of imaginative events. It is clear that high standards are set for public art/cultural programming. By providing such diverse, free, artistically serious, and accessible programming to the general public, this work creates a platform for art and audiences to meet and have fun! The integrating of artistic professionals into all aspects of the public programming is commendable.
The panel was also pleased to see that Rhode Island artists are paid for their work. The panel was confident in their ability to carry out the work, based on the range of strong partnerships, outstanding track record, and seriousness of evaluation efforts. Marketing and promotion activities seem to be outstanding and are aimed at reaching the broader local/state audiences.
In terms of public value, the organization seems to realize both its opportunity to reach broad audiences and development community through arts and cultural experiences, and its responsibility to do this in a way that honors both the work of participating artists and the needs to diverse audiences in the downtown area.
Congratulations to our whole programming staff, we look forward to seeing what you have planned for 2018!

While these grants are incredibly valuable to the work that we do, they do not cover the entire budget for these programs. Funding for these programs also includes sponsorships by members of the community, partnerships, and generous donations from people like you.
If you would like to make a one time, tax-deductible contribution to the DPPC, you can do so here. Thank you!
